Welcome to Moon Month, or we could say moon moonth because the word month comes from the word moon, as it take approximately one month for the moon to go through all of it phases.  We celebrate the moon in October because in October there is an exciting event called International Observe the Moon Night where people from all over the world come together to observe and celebrate Earth's only natural satellite.
